NetIDme - Protecting Digital Identities: Proving Your Identity Online

Proving Your Identity Online

Interesting article in Information Week discussing the concerns surrounding online ID verification & reputation systems. The article highlights both the need for a workable system, & the issues involved with verifying individuals' identity in the virtual world. OpenID, a user-centric digital ID system, is certainly a move in the right direction.

NetIDme is currently developing a verified OpenID service that will allow members to use NetIDme to 'vouch' for' their identity online. As the adoption of OpenID grows, the NetIDme service will allow web users to securely login to websites that support OpenID, without having to create any new user names or passwords. Read the Information Week article for more information on the issues.

NetIDme To Become an OpenID Provider

NetIDme will support OpenID technology.
Development will start soon. We'll keep you posted...

What Is OpenID?
OpenID is an open, decentralized, free framework for user-centric digital identity.
OpenID starts with the concept that anyone can identify themselves on the Internet the same way websites do-with a URI (also called a URL or web address). Since URIs are at the very core of Web architecture, they provide a solid foundation for user-centric identity. (more)

With an OpenID from NetIDme, YOU control which information you share with websites online, and your identity is verified, as NetIDme provides secure authentication for all premium service users. With a NetIDme OpenID, your online identity is controlled by you. Your password is shared with no one, only you know it.

An OpenID from NetIDme will look something like this:
